Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Health and Safety Manager to oversee safety operations at a HAZWOPER site. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory compliance, managing emergency response efforts, and fostering a culture of safety. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and excellent interpersonal skills to protect workers, the public, and the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and other applicable regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Site Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Lead emergency response efforts including chemical spills, fires, and medical emergencies.
  • Serve as Incident Commander or Safety Officer during emergency events.
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Deliver HAZWOPER and emergency response training to site personnel.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and report performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field or 8 years of related field and management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in hazardous waste or emergency response environments.
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour supervisor/refresher as applicable
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations.
  • Experience with emergency response planning and incident command systems (ICS).

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification
  • ICS/NIMS Training
