Senior Mechanical Engineer

 

Salary Range: $120,000 – $145,000 based on experience and qualifications

Veolia Nuclear Solutions Federal Services is looking for Mechanical Engineers.  In this position professionals will develop detailed designs and analysis of mechanical system for industrial and nuclear applications.  Successful candidates will be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individuals who possess the ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment using excellent communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

 Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in multidiscipline design teams to develop detailed designs. 
  • Working under the direction of a Principal Engineer, independently:
    • Prepare design drawings, design calculations, fabrication and construction specifications to meet design criteria and objectives
    • Review and evaluate customer provided design criteria, interpret and apply design codes and standards to ensure design products conform to consensus standards.
    • Development and/or review of design documents and drawings that will be issued for construction.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in General, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering design or Nuclear Facility Operation/Maintenance/Construction
  • Working knowledge of System analyses software (i.e., RISA, AutoPipe, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of national codes and standards such as IBC, ASME, etc.

 

 Desired Qualifications   

  • Familiarity with MathCAD and AutoCAD/Civil 3 D/Solidworks preferred 
  • PE Licensed
  • Experience with Federal Projects within the Department of Defense, Department of Energy or Hanford Specific Experience
  • Familiarity with:
    • ASCE-7 Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures
    • ASHRAE fundamentals and standards
    • ASME AG-1 Code on Nuclear Air and Gas Treatment
    • ASME B31.X Power/Process/Building Service Piping
    • ASME BTH-1 Design of Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices
    • ASME BPVC Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
    • ASME Section IX Qualification Standard for Welding, Brazing, and Fusing Procedures

                                                

Accountabilities:

  • Execute technical tasks assigned independently and with a high level of quality
  • Interacts with principal engineers and project managers to:
    • Deliver scope on time, on budget and in accordance with expectations, including delivery in a safe and secure manner
  • Compliance with policies and procedures
