Discipline Manager – Civil / Structural Engineering

Veolia Nuclear Solutions Federal Services is looking for a discipline manager for civil/structural engineering.  In this position, a self-driven professional will be responsible to develop a civil/structural team who will develop designs (drawings, analysis and calculations), prepare specifications, and support procurement package development, construction installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing to meet local and national codes, standards, and DOE requirements. Additional scope may include support to operations with walkdowns, inspections, and/or procedure development. Successful candidates will be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individuals who possess the ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment using excellent communication and time management skills. In addition, Discipline Manager – Civil/Structural Engineering will perform engineering design evaluations, provide input on design company level processes/procedures, support engineering scope proposal and estimate development, and hire/manage/mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, hire, and manage engineering staff.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and partners.
  • Participate in multidiscipline design teams to develop detailed designs.
  • Work independently to develop specific design media to meet client design criteria and objectives.
  • Development and/or review of design media that will be issued for construction.
  • Prepare design drawings, design calculations, equipment procurement specifications, fabrication and construction specifications.
  • Review and evaluate customer design criteria, interpret/apply design codes and standard to ensure design products conform to approved design criteria, prepare or review design calculations and design drawings or sketches for correctness and accuracy.
  • Develop and apply broad knowledge of principles and practices in specific areas.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with complex features.
  • Support multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects
  • Assist with proposals.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License
  • 15+ years of civil/structural design/installation/testing experience
  • 8+ years of experience in support of nuclear facilities or designs
  • DOE or Hanford Experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national codes and standards, such as IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil/structural design analysis tools, such as RISA, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) (e.g. ANSYS, Solidworks FEA)
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills as well as excellent computer skills that are relevant to job applications.  

 

Desired Qualifications   

  • Familiarity with MathCAD, AutoCAD, Solidworks preferred 
  • Ability to obtain PE License in Multiple States
  • Experience with Federal Projects within the Department of Defense, Department of Energy or Hanford Specific Experience
