Overview

Working closely with the Project Manager and the Government on-site Contracting Officer’s
Representative, plans, schedules and directs plant operations and maintenance activities at the Paradox Valley Unit. Supervises operations and maintenance personnel, including staffin and performance management. Demonstrates a personal commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Serves as Deputy Project Manager.
• Develops, maintains, implements and controls Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs), Maintenance Procedures, and maintains the Technical Library.
• Initiates and/or approves maintenance requests.
• Initiates engineering requests for improving operability or reliability for reducing maintenance, or to reduce costs; performs troubleshooting.
• Establishes equipment casualty control procedures.
• Initiates and/or approves requests for replenishing operating chemicals and supplies.
• Provides input into project planning.
• Collects and prepares production reports and required operations information, including work station and equipment logs.
• Monitors and authorizes discharges from the plant to the environment.
• Ensures safety and health of employees during work tasks, utilizing good work practices and following procedures and protocols.
• Provides direct oversight for all operations and maintenance activities.
• Ensures that operations and maintenance personnel are adequately supplied with information, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Supervises operations and maintenance personnel, including staffing and performance management.
• Ensures that all operations and maintenance personnel follow all safety and security policies and procedures.
• Ensures that operations and maintenance personnel observe all work rules. 
• Maintains a safe working environment. Demonstrates awareness and implementation of applicable environmental, safety, and health (ES&H) requirements while also alerting coworkers of such requirements as needed.
• Demonstrates the ability to get along with co-workers, customers, and visitors.
• Demonstrates a personal commitment to safety and quality.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Supervises all employees assigned to the operations and maintenance departments.
• Acts as the Deputy Project Manager.
• Works in a typical office environment as well as a typical industrial environment. The noise levels vary from quiet in the office to higher noise levels in the requiring minimal hearing protection in the industrial environment.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to sit for part of the day. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and drive.
• The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Manual dexterity abilities required include operating machinery and equipment.
• Some flexibility is expected during position’s core work hours. Overtime may be required as job demands.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications:
• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least seven years of directly related work experience. Must possess of a valid unrestricted driver license and must have and maintain an acceptable driving record.


Experience & Requirements:
• Must pass a thorough U.S. Government background check administered by the Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation.
