  • Overview

    The Project Engineer completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements. They also prepare schedules for project tracking and assists the project manager in project delivery. Additional responsibilities include monitoring project performance in alignment with established metrics. The project engineer oversees and coordinates with site engineers on the technical aspects of the project and professional engineers in client product deliverables. They collaborate with engineering staff to create more efficient methods and maintain profitability.  Additionally, they formulate project parameters including design elements and project specific implementation procedures and plans. Responsible for preparing and presenting functional group/project status and budget reports.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
    • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements
    • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
    • Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
    • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
    • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
    • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
    • Controls project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts.
    • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.

    Qualifications

    B.S in Science or Engineering

    Coursework or experience/exposure with Mechanical Engineering

    Proven ability to work within focused team environment

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Field Experience a plus

     

    Desired

    Experience in writing Policy and Procedure, Experience in Hazardous Waste/Nuclear Waste Management, Requirements Analysis, Design Skills, Project Management, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, CAD
